The Registered Trustees of Social Justice and Civil Rights Awareness Initiative filed a suit against Femi Gbajabiamila, claiming he is “not morally fit” to be a new Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The groups’ members claim that Femi Gbajabiamila was “convicted in the state of Georgia for unethical practices and was debarred as a lawyer for 36 months” and thus has no moral rights to hold the post of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

An ex-parte motion seeking to disqualify Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the House of Representatives was filed to the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court. Justice Abdul Kafarati is presiding over the suit.

The groups’ representatives claim their investigation reveals how Gbajabiamila was convicted by the Supreme Court of Georgia in 2007 and as the primary evidence provided the documents confirming their claims.
