Of course, Nigeria is a land of traditions and customs. It is unusual for a woman to ask a man for his hand in marriage. But times are changing now, so here are 4 reasons for a modern Nigerian girl to start proposing to her man.
1. Women do everything better
As often said, everything a man can do a woman can do better. Instead
of waiting for a prince to come for you, why not to take matters into
your own hands? We live in the world where most conventions are broken.
2. Men are big babies
All men are like babies. They want to be fed, given special attention
and taken care of. So the best care you can give to him is to give him a
ring. He probably deserves it as much as you do.
3. Time is not on your side
Often times, there is too much pressure on women from friends and,
especially, parents to settle down. Your parents keep asking you when
you will be married and all the ladies you know are already in their
marital homes. So if you have already found a guy you love, why not to
give him an engagement ring? If he does not do it first, of course.
4. You don’t want to wait for too long
Some time ago, Nigerian guys used to get married approximately at the
age of 25. Now they prefer to wait till 30 or even 35. They want to buy
a car, get a bigger house and so on. If this happens, you will be
forced to wait a while for him to accomplish all of his goals. So if you
two are in love – just propose to him. And don’t forget to cook
something tasty!

ReplyDeleteI was told by our Malam that if Adam had not rush in proposing to Eve. Should would have propose to him. So nothing is wrong if a lady proposes to a guy first, that doesn't mean she is cheap, it simply means she did the needful first. Most ladies do miss out of the guys they love simply because they were waiting for him to propose. The guy might love them, doesn't occur to him to propose to her at the very moment.
