The senate has screened INEC Chairman nominee, Mahmoud Yakubu, a first class degree holder in History from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
During his presentation, the nominee advocated for E-voting, saying it is desirable and inevitable. He however said we must thread cautiously as we attempt to use E-voting. He same the workability of the technology used for E-voting must be considered.
On diaspora voting, Yakubu said it is worth trying but however there are election reforms to be done. Such reforms including the law demanding an electorate to vote only where they did their voters card registration.
He was later confirmed as INEC and four Commissioners namely Antonla Taiye Okoosi Simbine for North-central, Alhaji Baba Shettima Arfo for North-east, Mohammed Mustafa Lecky for South-south, Amina Zakari for North East and Soyebi Adedeji Solomon for South-west. Were all screened today October 29th.
