This follows the death of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha in the early hours of Saturday, 15th of August, 2015 in Yola, capital of Adamawa while on an official assignment.
Salam Isa Gusau, spokesman to the Governor, confirmed that governor Shettima, in a letter, dated Monday, October 5, 2015 and addressed to the Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, forwarded the name of Durkwa, seeking the approval of the Assembly.

He said, this is in accordance with the powers conferred on him by Section 191 Sub-Section (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).
