Former governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige has formally announced the death of his aged father, Ozo Akunnia Pius Okonkwo Ngige on Wednesday.
A statement released by the family of the former head of Umu Ngige clan of Alor town in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state stated that he died on Friday, September 4th at the ripe age of 105.
The statement signed by Senator Ngige on behalf of the family, noted that funeral arrangements of the burial will be announced at a later date. The late senior Ngige was born in 1910 in Alor and started his life career as an Assistant Foreman Building (carpentry), rising to the post of supervisor in the then Public Works of Eastern Region Colonial Government.
Late PA Ngige was in the team that worked with the colonial masters to build health center under the One Health Centre Per Village Scheme, especially in the old Onitsha province of Eastern Region.
