If a player in an offside position make a move for the ball and intend to go for it, they will be penalized for the act.The new adjustment states that: "A player in an offside position shall be penalized if he: Makes an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball."
Before the adjustment, a player in an offside position would have to have touched the ball before he will be panelized offside.
Daily Mail cited a Manchester United goal by Juan Mata against Stoke in a Premier League game.
Mata curled a free-kick in to the net and the goal was allowed despite Marcos Rojo-who was in an offside position- attempting to head the cross in but missed.
According to the new adjustment, that goal will be called off for an offside.
Officials believe the new rule will simplify the situation and dissuade players from lingering around in an offside position knowing they would not be considered to be actively involved in play.
If the player in an offside position does not intend to make a move for the ball and consciously stepped out of the way leading to a goal, the goal will be allowed.

ReplyDeleteOkay now
ReplyDeleteIt all depends of ref's decision. Off side players are often penalise only whn they make move toward the ball not whn they touched d ball. So the so called new rule has been happening before now. Even in play station
ReplyDeleteVery well, let's see how it works
