The Nigerian Army said yesterday that an attempt by a suicide bomber to attack Rumirgo Market in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State was foiled by a vigilante group member.
The suspected suicide bomber heading to Rumirgo market was said to have been accosted by the vigilante.
A statement by Col. Sani Usman, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, narrated the incident: “In the process of interrogation, the suspected terrorist blew himself up and died on the spot.
“The vigilante member sustained injuries and has been rushed to hospital for medical treatment by troops.
“The situation is under control as people go about their normal businesses. “Troops have been put on maximum alert to forestall further attack”.
