Sandra Emaku and Aishitu Aliyu were both killed at Fugar, Edo State on Saturday, June 27, 2015, during the burial of a former headmaster, Hon. James Oshioriamhe Etu...
It happened when the children of the deceased were dancing as part of the funeral. One of the traditional rulers who graced the occasion stood up to leave then one of the police officers attached to him started shooting sporadically,Vanguard reports.
Sandra Emaku, 26, and Aishitu Aliyu were both hit while other mourners took to their heels. Sandra, who lost her husband last year, was a mother of 4 including a 2-month-old baby. While Sandra was a relation of the deceased, Aishatu only came to mourn with her friend, Christiana Adams.
Edo State Police Commissioner described the incident as accidental discharge, and says the suspect has been arrested and will face the law accordingly...
Emaku Paul, the elder brother of Sandra, says the corpse of his sister is yet to be released by the police and they're offering no explanation.
