Breaking News!!! Tension In Owerri As Locals Attack Hausa Community Over Demolition Of Illegal Structures

Information just coming in to us clamming there is heavy tension now in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. According to the report on the ground, Prince Ikem Obioma, the riot in Owerri was purportedly over the demolition of illegal structures by the Rochas Okorocha government through the government Agency (ENTRACO).

All shops and banks around Douglas Road, Ama hausa Mbaise Road axis under lock with heavy concentration of armed security personnels around the area.

The source revealed that todays problem started after the state government gave the traders at Ekeonuwa market and environs a deadline date to evacuate the area or face demolition, but the traders union were said to have insisted that the governor must demolish Amahausa first which is also along the busy road before their business spots.
The governor yesterday demolished some illegal structures belonging to the Igbo traders, but allegedly spared the structures belonging to the Hausa community. The Igbo traders were unhappy with this development which they considered unfair and a display of double standard by the state government. As a result, some irate youths were said to have busted into the Hausa market, leading to the riot.

The situation seems under control at the moment as mobile police men and other security personnels have surrounded the Ama Hausa area.
