Read APC's Unsteady Start In The National Assembly

The emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively as against the wish of the All Progressives Congress, which had Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as consensus candidates has without doubts changed political calculations within the ruling party. 

Saraki, Dogara and their supporters did not only boycotted the shadow elections held by the APC on Tuesday to pick consensus candidates for the two top positions of the National Assembly, they also vowed to defy the party by mounting a challenge against the preferred candidates.

The outcome of the Tuesday elections revealed a party which is battling with enforcing discipline within itself. As different leaders in the APC have expressed divergent view on the outcome of the NASS elections, the party is undoubtedly in for a big challenge in the coming days.
