The University administration had earlier in the day shut down the school and asked students to vacate hostels immediately.
The move was to avert a protest planned by the students later in the week. Students and staff of the university had for some weeks now faced acute water scarcity and erratic power supply.
However, a student, who spoke to our correspondent, said there is currently a serious rampage by angry students.
She said trouble had started when the university authority put up measures to enforce the closure, a development she said elicited violent reaction from students.
“There is confusion everywhere as the students are moving around violently; everybody is running helter-skelter”.
