Michael Igbinedion, the younger brother of Lucky Igbinedion, a former governor of Edo state, was yesterday, convicted by a Federal High Court in Benin in a N25 billion money laundering case instituted against him and five others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Others convicted in the 81-count charge of money laundering are Patrick Eboigbodin, a former Accountant-General and the four companies are Gava Corporation Limited, Romrig Nigeria Limited, PMI Securities Company Limited and PML (Nigeria) Limited.
The offence was committed during the administration of his brother when he was the Governor of Edo State between 1999 and 2007.
The judge however reserved their sentence till today.
