The former sheriff’s deputy, according to New York Daily, suffered from brain damage due to Lou Gehrig’s disease and his mental deterioration caused him to murder his wife in August of 2014.
Steele, after killing the two women, wrote a suicide not where he said he wanted to go out with a bang but according to a psychiatrist who examined him, the note was nothing more than delusions from a man whose brain being destroyed by disease.
Police responded to an emergency call from Tollefsbol on August 22 saying she had been shot by Steele. When police arrived, they found Steele in the laundry room attempting to commit suicide from carbon monoxide.
