Pandemonium broke out is Sagamu,Saturday, when some unknown gunmen stormed some polling units and snatched some ballot boxes.
The action, Sunday Vanguard gathered disrupted the election process for a while before some soldiers intercepted the gang and retrieved the stolen ballot boxes from them.
It was gathered that, the intervention of the soldiers saved snatching of ballot boxes in Sagamu local government area, as voting was still on-going as at 9.00pm when the incident occurred.
A source told our correspondent that, the incident happened at Itunsokun Ward in the council area and had caused delay in voting proceeding for several hours.
The Chairman of the council area, Funmilayo Ewuape who spoke with newsmen on phone described the development as shocking, saying “the daring gang stormed the complex and started shooting sporadically. They succeed in carting the boxes.
“But, when I got the information, I immediately contacted the Soldiers to go after the gang and got them. They retrieved the boxes, and we have started voting now at Itunsokun (9.05pm).
She was silent over whether the soldiers made any arrest or not.
Further findings have shown that, the gang making sighted men of Nigerian Army took to their heels and abandoned the boxes.
