Mrs Essien Etukudo, the Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Delta, on
Thursday said six corps members lost their lives during the service year in the state.
Etukudo, who disclosed this in Asaba, said the corps members lost their lives due to accidents and illness.
She said the deceased include Omeben Imaguero, Imana Aminat, Obakpororo Rawlings, Ndubuisi Chibuike, Soliminu Iyabode and Emoghene Oghenesui.
She also said that 20 corps members, who committed various offenses, had their service years extended to between two weeks and five months.
She said the sanctions were in line with the scheme’s tradition of appreciating outstanding corps members and reprimanding the deviants.
She, however, said that two other corps members bagged the state government’s award of N50,000 for exemplary conduct.
“One corps member bagged the state NYSC Chairman of Governing Board’s award of N20,000 and four others received letters of commendation,” Etukudo added.
