The The 56-year-old singer apparently tumbled down a set of stairs, landing awkwardly, after a dancer tried removing a cape she was wearing at the time of her performance.
However she recovered fast enough and returned to the stage to finish her song, ‘Living for love’.
Madonna later released a statement, saying she was ‘fine’ and then explaining that her cape had been ‘tied too tight’."Nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up. Thanks for your good wishes!”, she wrote on social network site Instagram, citing the lyrics to her song.
The BRIT Awards took place at The O2 Arena with the likes ofSam Smith and Ed Sheeran winning.
