No fewer than 22 members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra have been arrested in some parts of the country by the Police. Four suspects were apprehended in Anambra, six in Imo, 11 in Delta and one in Abia State, the Police said.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, on Tuesday in Abuja, the arrests were on the order of the Inspector–General of Police, Solomon Arase, for a clampdown on persons or group of persons inciting violence and social disorder across the country. All those arrested, irrespective of their class or status in the society, the statement added, would be charged to court.
