Nigeria Customs Service has made seizures worth N28,660,717 (Twenty Eight Million, Six Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventeen Naira Only), in the Third week of its fight against smuggling of frozen poultry products tagged Operation Hawk Descend.
The seizures which consist of 5,915 (five hundred and ninety five) cartons of frozen poultry product, mostly conveyed in commercial vehicles was confiscated by Customs Officers around the South Western area of the country which consist of Badagry Creeks, Seme axis and Idiroko axis of Ogun state.
While commending the efforts of the operatives, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi, stressed the need for the smugglers to desist from such act that have negative consequences on the economy of the nation. He further stated the Service commitment in bringing the activity of the smugglers to its barest minimum.
The CGC called on the Poultry Association of Nigeria to give useful information and other forms of assistance that will further help the operatives to achieve the goal of completely crippling poultry smuggling into Nigeria.
