The Ex-president in a statement on Sunday issued on his behalf by Abubakar Sulaiman, the immediate past minister/deputy chairman, National Planning Commission, said his administration spent only N332.6 million for the celebration — an average of N66 million per year.
This figure he claims is even N4 million less than the N70 million approved by Buhari this year for the country’s 55th Independence Anniversary.
The break down, according to El-Rufai showed that N13billion was spent in 2011, N15billion in 2012 and N14billion in 2013 and N22billion in 2014. However, according to the statement; “For the record, a breakdown of our spending for this event between 2012 and 2104 goes thus; 2012-107.6million; 2013-45million and 2014 had 180million.”
