Inspector General Of Police, Arase, Orders Arrest Of Policemen For Testifying In Favor Of Governor Wike

A mellow drama occurred at the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal shortly after two senior police officers, an Assistant Commissioner of Police and former Area Command of Bori Zonal Police Command in Rivers State, Mr Akuki Kenneth and a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Uche Mike Chukwuma on Friday testified that the April 11th elections in the state was peaceful.

Their testimonies both contradicted the claims by soldiers that the election was characterized by violence and ballot box snatching.

Plain clothes policemen, who claimed to be acting on the orders of the Inspector General of Police arrested the two officers who testified before the tribunal.

The ACP had in his testimony said, he supervised the election in nine Local Government Areas and that the governorship elections held on April 11 was peaceful and that there was no disruption of voting in the state.
