A statement released by family of Rear Admiral Alison-Madueke, Diezani's husband and signed by the family lawyer, Oscar Onwudiwe, which denied the reports of her arrest, said Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has been receiving treatment for cancer in the UK which started while she was in office.
She completed months of chemotherapy just last week and she is scheduled to undergo surgery next week in London. The statement pleaded with all reasonable Nigerians to pray for the ex-minister's recovery so that she can face the allegations and give account of her stewardship, while in office.
