Too Bad!! 7-year-old Boy Kills Toddler With A Gun He Found In Their Apartment (Photo)

This is what happens when kids are not seriously watched, A three-year-old girl has died after being shot by another young child who was playing with a gun.

Little Dalis Cox is believed to have been shot twice by a seven-year-old boy in what police have described as an accident.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening at an apartment block in Washington DC.

Officers were called to the complex in the 600 block of 46th Place SE near Benning Road at 8.18pm, the Washington Post reported.

Dalis was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds inside the building.

She was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries.

Authorities said early investigations showed the child was shot by a seven-year-old boy who was playing with a gun he found in the apartment.

It is not known who the gun belonged to or where it was found.

Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier told a news conference that police officers who happened to be nearby heard screaming.

They drove the child to hospital rather than wait for an ambulance to arrive.

Lanier added: “We have no reason to believe that it’s anything other than an accident. So what we’re looking at is how the gun got into the house.

“We believe it was a young child that got their hands on a gun, so we do believe it was an accident.”

She added that the gun was not legally registered and police will need to determine how it got into the apartment before any criminal charges can be pursued.

Father Timothy Cox confirmed that Dalis lived in the apartment block with her mother and two older siblings.

The 48-year-old last saw his daughter just hours before she died when he visited the home.

He told the Washington Post: “She said, ‘Daddy, I want to come with you.’

“I said, ‘Baby, I have to go to work. I will be back to get you the next time.”

The heartbroken dad added: “Dalis is my life and soul. I’m at a real loss.”

“People need to make sure they are with their kids at all times. Tomorrow is not promised.”
