Update: See Horrific Photos From The Festac Bank Robbery Incidence Today

We earlier reported that armed robbers in military uniforms stormed Diamond and Access Bank in Festac Town. According to a detailed report, there was a gun battle between a group of policemen and some armed robbers in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13, 2015 turned deadly as a woman and her 14-month-old baby were hit by the robbers’ stray bullets and died.

It was reported that over 20 heavily armed bandits attacked Diamond and Access banks on 4th Avenue in Festac Town, Lagos State in a one-hour operation that has left a tragic trail of blood.

The woman, identified as Mrs. Jane Ndirieka and her baby were hit in their house by stray bullets from the robbers shooting spree. The victim’s neighbors said that Mrs. Ndirieka was shot twice, one in the chest and in other the right shoulder while she carried her baby.

Her baby died on the spot while she was rushed to the hospital. Though she died after being rejected at the first hospital they went and while on their way to the general hospital, she died and was pronounced dead by the general hospital doctors.

Residents said that the police did not respond to any of their distress calls and the robbery operation went unchallenged for close to an hour.

The robbers shot a security guard at Diamond Bank during the operation. The security guard (name withheld) was rushed to a nearby hospital where the hospital staff confirmed that he was conscious and an x-ray was done to locate the bullet.

This is really sad....that hospital that rejected her should b closed for 1yr...and its high time our law makers review this useless laws of pours where people wigth gun shot injuries are always refered to get police report b4 they attend to them.....God help us in this nation...my question is,,what did fashiola did with all the money meant for social security in lagos state...bcos the last time this incident happen around lekki,,fashiola blame n accused d former president for d robbery,,,am wondering after collecting huge sum from this banks n promising them security,,who is he going to blame this time...

  5. How come the police lied that they responded swiftly to the emergency calls and onlookers in the neighbourhood told us that the robbers spent an hour undisturbed, now God help us in this country

  8. No one to blame other than the fact that God should give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
    It will be unethical for an hospital to admit a patient they well know they can't treat. Also, we need to be carefull in getting involved in a crime scene without appropriate police clearance. Releasing close pictures of a crime scene should be the prerogative of the law enforcement agencies.
    The Police from all intent sure responded swiftly based on varied accounts of about an hour exchange of gun battle or was it that the robbers were shooting for an hour without them getting afraid of the police? Also, that the Police claimed the robbers abandoned the loot and it was recovered by the police is a clear testimonial that the police response saved the day!
    Let's try encourage the force when they live up to assigned roles.
