Today, National Assembly Election Tribunal led by Justice M.O Adewara in Enugu State nullified the election of Gilbert Nnaji of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr. Nnaji was elected in April to represent Enugu East senatorial district. In a ruling in favor of a former Governor of the state, Chimaroke Nnamani of the Peoples Democratic Change (PDC) Justice Adewara nullified Nnaji election.
After the hotly contested election, Mr. Nnaji scored 69,544 votes against Nnamani’s 57,528 to win the contest.
The city of Enugu erupted in jubilation after the tribunal delivered its ruling. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be required to conduct fresh elections in Enugu in 90 days.
The nullification of Nnaji’s election will be the third time the election of a PDP senator would be nullified by an election petition tribunal in the last two weeks.
Okay o oga! U can try again next time. Hmmm! "Uwaifo don talk e own o".
ReplyDeleteI dnt like Gilbert nnaji,,but since they will b a re-run of elections,,I think PDP will still win bcos I dnt think with APC led govt neglecting enugu in areas of appointment ,,the electorate will still vote pdp into power since nnamani is a criminal with dubious records as a former governor
ReplyDeleteThe party they say Nnamani belongs to is PDC. Or am I seeing anoda thing there?
