Akpabio, who stated this while delivering his goodwill message to Nigerians on the country’s 55th independence anniversary during Wednesday’s plenary said: “We want to assure you, Mr Senate President, because you have spoken to me personally, that you are very committed to the success of the administration of President Buhari, that we, from the PDP extraction came to the Senate to ensure a robust debate and to ensure that whatever we do here is scrutinized for the overall interest of Nigerians.
“We did not come here to play destructive opposition. We want to place on record that we support this government and would do anything constitutional to ensure the success of the administration.
“We congratulate our President for presiding over the affairs of this country at 55, and want to use this opportunity to congratulate all Nigerians and appeal to them to continue to support the current administration as it strives to make life meaningful for them even in the face of dwindling revenue.”
Akpabio also said: “Nigeria is a nation guided by God and blessed with tremendous resources. The actions of our leaders today shall determine the greatness or otherwise of our tomorrow.”
