Former Presidential candidate of the now defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD, and Chieftain of a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Samuel Oluyemisi Falae was yesterday kidnapped by suspected herdsmen in Akure, the State Capital.
He was abducted on the day he marked his 77th birthday. It was learnt that Falae, an ex-SGF and also a former Minister of Finance under Gen. Ibrahim Babaginda’s regime had been having a running battle with the herdsmen over his farmland located at Ibafo in Igbatoro – Akure.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said 50 mobile Policemen have been deployed to the farm.
Ogodo told DAILY POST that, “Baba Falae has been having a running battle with the Herdsmen, and this morning, we learnt that he visited the farm and was allegedly attacked by these Herdsmen; but we have sent 50 of our men to the farm to start searching for him.”
