Governor Rauf Aregbesola Owing A Popular Hotel In Osun State

Some hotel operators in Osun State have asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola to settle the bills incurred by guests of the state government who lodged in their facilities.

In a statement issued in Osogbo, the state capital, on Saturday by their spokesperson, Babatunde Karim, the hoteliers said the debts had crippled some hotels.

Although they commended the governor's policies in the tourism and hospitality business, they appealed to the governor to settle bills incurred from March 2014 to date in order for them to continue operation.

The operators said due to the huge amount owed the hotels by the government, retrenchment had hit many hotels while those that could no longer cope had dropped out of business.

The governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, could not be reached for confirmation, as calls to his telephone did not connect while text message sent to his telephone as well as inquiries forwarded to his email were yet to be replied as at press time.
