Narrating how he committed the crime to journalists at Benue State Police Command headquarters, Ngbede said a heated argument with his friend on the farm resulted into a fight. He claimed that he gave his friend a little push and he fell and gave up the ghost.

When it was however announced in the village that Agabaidu was missing, Ngbede did not confess for over eight months until hunters one day discovered Agabaidu's skeleton in the shallow grave where he had been buried. Commissioner of Police in the state, Dibal Yakadi, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
