Luck ran out on the on the young man when he was sighted by some residents while he was trying to steal the brain box of a parked vehicle in the area.
According to an eye witness, the thief was nabbed around 4 P.M. and was thoroughly beaten and tied up until 6 A.M. when other residents woke up and met him at the scene.
Despite plea by some onlookers that the thief should be taken to the police station, the angry mob immediately put a tyre around him, poured petrol and set him on fire. Residents in the area complained that several vehicles had been vandalized in the recent past by the thief and his gang.
