A 21-year-old labourer, Bashir Abdullahi, has been sentenced to one month in prison by a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano State, for allegedly stealing six chickens.
The prosecutor in the case, Corporal Yakubu Galadima, told the court presided over by Magistrate Fatima Muhammad, that one Ghali Abdulkarim of Wurro Bugga village in the state, had reported the matter at the Badawa Police Division on July 14, and upon investigation, it was realised that Abdullahi had entered Abdulkarim's house and stole six chickens valued at N8,400.
Magistrate Muhammad, however, gave the convict an option of N3,000 fine, adding, however, that the convict had the right to make an appeal within 30 days.
