For daring to mess with the 'law' and stabbing a police woman with a broken bottle, a Lagos based driver, Samuel Adam, has been remanded in prison custody pending when his case would be heard in court.
The driver who resides at No. 33, Oshoro Street, Papa-Ashafa, Agege, was dragged to the Oshodi Magistrates’ Court on charges of breach of the peace and assault, after he allegedly stabbed the officer, Sergeant Raliat Jimoh, to the Shogunle Divisional Headquarters, while discharging her lawful duties.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Kehinde Olatunde, said that the accused committed the offences on May 20 at Bello Street, Shogunle, Oshodi.
Olatunde said the accused was driving against traffic when the the officer stopped him, but he refused to stop, and in a bid to make him stop, the accused picked a broken bottle and stabbed her.
"The accused was driving against traffic recklessly; the complainant entered his bus and asked him to stop, but he resisted arrest. He zoomed off with her from her duty post to an unknown destination; he stopped and was dragging her down from his Volkswagen bus.
He later picked a broken bottle and stabbed her on her right hand. When he saw blood gushing out of her hand, the accused abandoned his vehicle and took to his heels."
Olatunde said that the offences contravened sections 166 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
