Just two weeks after the death of Belgian footballer Gregory Mertens after a cardiac arrest, another player Tim Nicot has lost his life after a heart failure.
The 23-year-old defender was playing for fourth-tier Belgian club Wilrijk-Beerschot, collapsed on Friday, May 8 while playing in a tournament. Nicot was placed in induced coma but tragically died today, Monday, May 11.
"Wilrijk-Beerschot is in mourning. Tim Nicot has just died. We wish strength to his family and friends. #YNWA," Wilrijk-Beerschot's statement on Twitter reads in English.
Nicot joins the likes of other football stars like Marc-Vivien Foe, Daniel Jarque and Antonio Puerta who have died of cardiac arrest while playing the game.
