Chadian President Visits Jonathan, Buhari Speaks On 'Shekau’s Whereabouts' (See Photos)

Chadian President, Idriss Deby, today, May 11, 2015, paid a visit to President Goodluck Jonathan. Deby also paid a courtesy visit to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja.

While speaking to journalists after his meeting with Jonathan, the Chadian President explained that he visited the Nigerian President in order to discuss the war on Boko Haram Chadian President,he denied knowing the whereabouts of the leader of Boko Haram terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau.

Derby, was responding to questions by State House Correspondents, who took him on widely reported claims that he said he knows the hideout of the Boko Haram leader, warning him to surrender or be killed. He was been confronted with the questions after visiting President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

In what appeared like a volte face, President Derby said even if he knew where the terrorist was, he would not say where he is.

“I cannot tell you today that I know where Shekau is hiding ‎and even if I knew, I won’t tell you” he said.

According to him, the inability of the Nigerian and Chadian army to carry out joint operations is likely to be the major factor affecting the impact of the ongoing war against Boko Haram insurgents.

“Is regrettable that the two armies; that is the Nigerian army and the Chadian Army are working separately in the field, they are not undertaking joint operation. If they were operating joint operation, probably they would have achieved more results” he said.
