“One of my closest siblings who accepted me as a young gay man would often tell me: as long as you love behind the curtains, it's ok, just don't love another man in the open. Then, she would go ahead and shower love and affections on her boyfriend right in front of me and in our shared public space. Even though I took to her advice for many years, something inside me felt wronged by that attitude towards same gender loving people. Love is Love. If you can put up your own in the window, I might as well put up my own in the doorway. Happy Valentine's Day y'all.”
