When I was younger, I always valued Nigerian entertainment as a point of call , where morals and values can be inculcated into the youths, either through music, movies or plays and dramas. Such acts like Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi , Late Pa Haruna Ishola ( Snr ), King Sunny Ade , Late Orlando Owoh , late Sunny Okosun not forgetting Peter Edochie, Olu Jacobs, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Joke Silva, Dayo Adeneye and Kenny Ogungbe and Allibaba, they have in one way or the other inspired the younger generation with their works and impacted on the younger generation, as many look up to them as role models. Despite their popularity though, these people have shunned politics to remain in the industry they were destined for.
It is unfortunate that the younger generations in the Nigeria entertainment industry , who have got nothing to offer the youths but instead have polluted their minds with music and movies that lack moral values but only celebrate immorality and give the youths a warped sense of success, indecent dressing, which is gradually graduating into soft porn. These are the things being fed the youths by the entertainment industry, a far cry from what was obtainable before. which the youth are now embracing as a way of life due to what they see and hear daily. Many of them are not even able to keep their homes together, as tales of divorce and woes and scandals fill the news every day to the point we are inured to it. These are the people now finding their ways into politics???
I have no beef or grievance against any eligible individual aspiring for any political office but my point is you must go into it not because it is a fertile ground to make money, we are already troubled with classless and low-life politicians that are governing for that sole purpose. Entertainers should go into it only because they genuinely want to impact and the peoples' lives and make a difference in it!
God Bless Nigeria .
